It’s not every day we get to share something this special. When it comes to the various ways of making a living, one tradie has found a lucrative way to earn nearly five times the Australian average salary each year, time and again.

A member of ServiceSeeking.com.au since 2012, Murray Pulldore from Resourceful Maintenance Services focuses on kitchen and bathroom renovations and fencing work. He takes on six renovations through the website a year (normally kitchen and bathroom renovations), keeping him busy. 

He said that by only applying for big jobs on the service, he has managed to build a solid and profitable business employing a team of 7 with more than $500k of turnover through the website since starting. 90% of his revenue comes via the service, and he has a 5-star profile. 

Tools run in Murray’s blood, with the well-to-do tradie boasting more than 42 years of experience. His father, himself a builder,  introduced him to building and construction at the tender age of 11. Murray’s father was one of the founders of Mitre 10, and Murray grew up in a hardware store. 

Unlike gig economy websites, ServiceSeeking boasts an average job size of over $1,300, and jobs that Murray wins are typically more than $10,000.

“There are all types of jobs on ServiceSeeking, the customers are fantastic, and it has made my business what it is today,” he said.

As for the number of hours required to earn $500,000, Mr Polldore has said that weekend work is often required, and you should be available to contact customers 16-18 hours a day. “Being first to quote is one of my secrets to winning jobs.”

The findings cap off a huge year of growth for ServiceSeeking, with the platform now boasting over 3 million members, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs per year — worth almost $500,000,000.
