Reply Email Reveals Ugly Side of Local Services

When Julie hit 'reply' instead of 'forward' to a quote email she exposed an ugly side of our community.

We sometimes see some ugly exchanges between customers and businesses. Here's an excerpt from an email that came to our attention last week written by a customer called Julie.

"These people have also replied to my tender. I haven't spoken to them but am not really fussed as they are Asian. However, I have to pass on all interested parties, to be fair."

Julie intended to forward a quote email to a friend, but hit reply instead and sent her racist remark right back to the business that quoted on her job. Whilst she didn't intend for them to see the email, it's sad that race should be a factor when hiring a local business.

We have business members, customers and staff of all nationalities in our community. If you expect quotes from businesses from a particular ethnic background, try your luck somewhere else. We don't want you as a customer.
