After a chance meeting online, it seemed only fitting that 2 years later Lyndall and her fiancé Graham returned to the web to organise the wedding of their dreams.
If you’re picturing a poofy dress, a fleet of stretch limos and extravagant flower arrangements, then think again. Lyndall and Graham’s dream wedding was not your traditional affair.
Rather than a conventional big white wedding, the couple opted for a pink themed, low-key event at a local community hall – surprising around 40 family and friends at their engagement party with a wedding ceremony.
“I've always liked to do things my own way. Neither of us are really into being the centre of attention and we also really wanted to keep the fuss and stress to the minimum. This was the perfect way to meet all of these requirements,” says Lyndall.
To pull off the top secret nuptials Lyndall had to track down a team of skilled wedding professionals who knew how to be discreet. Lyndall took her search online.
“I saw an ad on Facebook for cheap photographers and followed the link to ServiceSeeking.com.au,” Lyndall tells. Using the pseudonym “Secret Squirrel”, Lyndall listed her photography job on the site and was delighted to receive 15 quotes.
She ended up selecting Sue Taylor from Global Sanctuary for the job.
“We first saw a flyer for Global Sanctuary at a bridal expo and I'd made note of their name because they appeared to offer such a good package at a reasonable price. When we found them again on ServiceSeeking.com.au Sue was attentive and provided excellent customer service. The price she offered was also the same as the one published in her brochure and there were no strings attached,” Lyndall elaborates.
Once Lyndall discovered ServiceSeeking.com.au wasn't just a marketplace for wedding photographers, but for a host of other wedding service providers, she want ahead and listed jobs for her hair & makeup and wedding favours.
“We had 4 quotes for a makeup artist who could also do hair and we got 3 when we went looking for a screen printer.”
Lyndall tried to make all her party supplier decisions based on the customer service she received while she was making enquiries.
She ended up selecting Julie at 2b-fem for her hair & makeup and enlisted Anna from Paris Page Marketing Services (PPMS) to print the thank you gifts.
“We had a trial with both the photographer and the makeup artist. We didn't do a trial run with the printer but Anna from PPMS lead us through the process like a true professional at every step,“ Lyndall says, adding “She really went above and beyond even taking care of us while she was sick,” adds Lyndall.
The day was a huge success. Although a few people closest to Mr and Mrs "Squirrel" guessed the twist - most guests were really surprised.
Lyndall acknowledges ServiceSeeking.com.au played a huge part in ensuring everything went off without a hitch.
“All 3 service providers were amazing - offering fast, often out of business hours, responses and doing as much as possible to help make the process as smooth as possible.”
After such a positive experience on ServiceSeeking.com.au Lyndall says she'd use the site again in a flash.
“Hopefully I wont have to go looking for any more services just at the moment but it will be my first port of call from now on!”
