Bathroom Renovation Costs

How much do bathroom renovations cost?

As the second most renovated room in the house, the bathroom is also one of the spaces most prone to financial blowouts. Having an idea of how much your project will cost you from the onset is an invaluable budgeting tool.

Builders charge between $20 and $150 for their labour, with an average quoted hourly rate of $57 per hour.

Materials and fixtures are not included (i.e. tiles, taps, appliances etc.) and the cost normally doesn't factor in the demolition or removal of the existing bathroom either. This can usually be arranged for a flat fee of around $500.

The duties of a builder are varied so be sure to identify exactly what you need done. Also be prepared for unexpected costs that are not included in your initial quote to arise, such as the cost of negotiating support beams.

This data was derived from more than 70,000 quotes submitted on the site between 1 October 2007 and 31 March 2010.
