• BSA Licence – Building Services Authority – 1084594 – 28 Jul 00

  The Queensland Building Services Authority is a Statutory Authority established under Queensland Building Services Authority Act 1991 (QBSA Act). The objects of the Act are: To regulate the building industry (i) to ensure the maintenance of proper standards in the industry; and (ii) to achieve a reasonable balance between the interests of building contracts and consumers; to provide remedies for defective building works; to provide for the efficient resolution of building disputes; and to provide support, education and advice for consumers, and those who under take building work. Do you need to use a BSA Licence holder? Most building work around the home valued at more than $1100 requires a BSA Licence. BSA recommends the use of a licensed contractor even for small jobs because the licence indicates that the contractor has met certain minimum standards.

  The Director of PowerHouse Painting Craig Mitchell, commenced his apprenticeship in 1985 with QBuild, completing his apprenticeship in May of 1988, working with Qbuild until 1996 (eleven years). Craig then commenced working for himself as a subcontractor until 1998, when he then registered a business, employing the services of other painters and decorators. Since then, PowerHouse Painting has been in operation and grown to a staff of 14 tradesmen, Supervisor Joel, Admin Coordinator Emily and Craig’s wife Rachael Mitchell. PowerHouse painting provides equal opportunity to their employees, with ongoing training and development to support the backbone of the business.
