OPSS Design & Building Workshop is a comprehensive building design practice with experience, friendly and innovative team.
The practice provides a full range of design services including architectural design, interior design, landscape design, hydraulic design, structural deisgn, planning reports and BASIX. All aspects from initial planning and briefing, through to detailed design development and technical documentation to on-site adminstration is completed as well as post completion analysis.
We are commited to making buildings of understated dignity, expressed through the play of light upon the natural beauty of materials. We believe that buildings are the best when they express their purpose and interact sympathetically with their surroundings.
Our Design Philosophy
OPSS Design & Building Workshop have always been guided by a belief that the quality of our surroundings has a direct influence on the quality of our lives, whether it’s in the workplace, at home or in the public realm. Further, we acknowledge that design is generated by the needs of people, which are both material and spiritual, maintaining a concern for the physical context and sensitivity to the culture and climate of place.
The central drive of the practice is to create elegant, rigorous and innovative design solutions that respond to each developments site constraints, operational, financial and program requirements of the client. The design and management of all projects, regardless of scale, complexity or building typology is approached on the same basis with the following core values of simplicity, efficiency and legibility being its driving force.
As professionals we have a dual responsibility firstly to our clients we serve, but also to the public domain who ultimately become the many users of our designs. The design of each new project is reviewed regularly, both formally and informally, so as to meet the projects initial objectives.
Our Design Approach
OPSS Design & Building Workshop operates on the team approach, bringing together owners, users and professionals in a collaboration of knowledge, needs and efforts, realizing greater results and enhanced solutions. We consistantly strive to explore creative opportunities within each project After the initial meeting with the client and the brief, we deliver the concept design and then proceed onto the completion of
DA documentation with the collaboration with our consulting team and liaise with the council or PCA.
We also tender behalf of the client and liaise with the builder until the completion of the construction.
Assisting with formulation of a brief; bulk and location studies; evaluation of properties; feasibility studies; resource consent applications; encroachment licence applications; arranging land surveys and geotechnical reports.

Coordination of consultants; detailed construction documentation; comprehensive specifications; colour schemes; building consent applications.
