4 Reasons You Should Hire an Architect

Are you a young professional looking to have your first home built, or perhaps a business owner who needs someone to design your new store? Whatever your needs, there is a right architect out there for you.

It is important to know what an architect is and what their qualifications are. By definition, an architect is a person who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings. Architects have undergone extremely specialised training and advanced education. In Australia, there are three requirements to become a licensed architect, namely:

  1. A professional degree from an accredited architecture school
  2. At least 2 years of practical experience
  3. The completion of the architectural practice examination

After fulfilling these prerequisites, they are registered through the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia. They will have to go thru different architect registration boards depending on their state or territory. They can also register as members of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Architects play an important role in designing and constructing whatever project you have, and the reasons why will be explained throughout this article.

1. Architects are there to ensure your safety

The reason for such strict rules and regulations imposed on architects by the government is for the benefit of the public. The government must be assured that architects design structures that are safe to build. When you hire one of your local architects for a project, from small houses to commercial establishments, the architect must make sure he or she does not sacrifice your security in favour of elegant or flashy design.

They may plan different kinds of houses and buildings, but one job remains the same: to ensure that the structure remains upright and is not dangerous to stand on. This is true for all, whether you hire a residential architect, small project architect, a commercial architect, restoration architect, or an industrial architect.

As such, you must make certain that you hire a reliable architect who will not compromise your standards. You can never compromise your safety for the sake of lower costs.

2. Their designs help preserve your family’s heritage

Think about landmarks in Brisbane that have been there since before you or your parents were born. Monuments like the Story Bridge and the ANZAC square — which are both heritage-listed — have been standing since the early 1930’s. As of the writing of this article, that has been almost 90 years ago.

The reason you are still seeing these bastions of Australian architecture today is because amazing work was done by the architects involved in these projects. Architectural design plays a tremendously powerful role in society because they serve as beacons of your people’s culture. They preserve your country’s ideals and history for the many future generations that will come.

The same can be said about your personal heritage. When you hire one of your local architects to design and build your home, you effectively help in making something that will be upheld by not only you but the children you will pass it on to. Your children will, in turn, hand it down to their children, and so on. With the help of an exceptional architect, you are securing a substantial piece of your family’s future.

3. They turn your dreams into reality

One of your primary goals in life is to have a house built for yourself. And that is perfectly understandable. It is an ambition that you share with most people. This is where residential or home architects come in. Their job is to build you the house that you hope for. They have the ability to literally build you the house of your dreams with whatever budget and size of land you have because they are trained to work with what is available.

A quality architect listens to what you want and designs your house to your specifications. All you have to do is watch as your fantasy home becomes a reality right before your eyes.

If you are an entrepreneur looking to open your first business, say a small coffee shop or a bakery, then a commercial architect is right for the job. They specialise in designs for leisure facilities and all other kinds of commercial buildings. A great architect has the tools needed to realise what you envision and will help you build your business.

4. They make the inside of your home or establishment more beautiful

Are you a homeowner who thinks the inside of your house is just plain or dull? Or are you a business owner who is losing customers because they don’t like the look of your store? Then an interior architect is a perfect person to hire for these jobs.

Interior architects are different from interior decorators because they take on bigger tasks than making a room or building pleasing to look at. While they also take into account what looks beautiful in such a space, they must also understand the structure in order to make it safe and functional. Like all other types of architects, they are also licensed degree-holders.

A qualified interior architect is part of the remodelling process from start to finish. It is his or her duty to listen to what you want and what your expectations are and from there make building suggestions. These are usually on-site consultations because it is necessary for the designer to get a feel of the space. After designs and draughts have been completed, the actual construction will begin. The architect updates the look and feel of your home and makes it more satisfying to be in while ensuring the structural integrity of your house.

You also need an interior architect if you are a business owner. As an entrepreneur, your customers are technically your source of income, and as such, you cannot afford to lose them. Store design plays a big part of why customers will regularly visit your shop. Customer experience today is not just about buying your products and services, it’s about the positive emotions they have from being in your store. A world-class store design can be of significant help in increasing your consumer base, and that will definitely happen once you hire a world-class interior architect.

Are you in search of qualified architects? We have a list of a wide variety of architects to suit your every design need. Post a job right now and get quotes from different architects to know the best person who can do the job for you.
