What is the Average Cost of a Kitchen Tiling Job?
Kitchen tiling services cost approximately $45/m2. This is only an average rate; in order to know the exact prices, you’ll need to get a quote from a professional tiler. Generally, rates range from as low as $37/m2 to as high as $50/m2.
Where do these prices come from?
Tommy of Mitie Tiling says that an average kitchen tiling job can cost $550. This price, however, is for labour only; it will definitely change depending on the type of material to be used.
Phung paid $350 to have the kitchen splashback in his South Australia home tiled. The size was approximately 3m2 over four walls, and he had 100mm x 200mm tiles to be used for the job. These tiles were cut around two light switches and two power points. His tiler provided the adhesive, grout, and silicone.
Factors
Similar to other home renovation projects, the cost of kitchen tiling depends on several considerations. In order to get a better estimate of how much you will pay for a job, you need to know the factors that go into a kitchen tiler’s quote. These usually include the following:
Size of the kitchen
Since many kitchen installation jobs are measured on a per-square-metre basis, bigger kitchens will naturally cost more.
Cost of materials
There are many different kinds of tiles, and some are more expensive than others. Ceramic or porcelain tiles are generally the most affordable options, which makes them perfect if you are on a budget. On the other hand, you can choose natural stone tiles like granite or marble if you have the money to spend. These types of tiles are extremely durable but also more difficult to install, which is why they usually cost more.
Complexity of the job
It is more difficult to install tiles on kitchens with uneven surfaces, so tilers will likely charge you more if your floor isn’t level. Similarly, laying tiles with irregular shapes or intricate patterns takes more work, so expect that this will drive up the cost of your project.

Rates per state
Queenslanders pay around $40/m2 for the installation of kitchen tiles. Meanwhile, in Victoria and Western Australia, kitchen tilers charge about $45/m2 for their services. With an average rate of $50/m2, kitchen tiling is most expensive in New South Wales.
