Hi, I'm Shaun McAtamney, registered BAS Agent for Upgrade Bookkeeping, we offer affordable bookkeeping and BAS Agent services for residents and businesses in Toowoomba and beyond. Services we offer include: bookkeeping, payroll, BAS lodgements, Workcover and sub-contractor reporting, and financial reporting.
When you contract me to do bookkeeping for you, you can be sure you'll get reliable and efficient service. Having worked in the bookkeeping industry for more than 10 years, I have experience and know how to deal with all kinds of business requirements. I work with sole-traders, companies and not-for-profits, so I can help and advise on how to apply the best bookkeeping software and solutions for your business.
Upgrade Bookkeeping goes beyond what other bookkeepers can offer you, by agreeing to discount services required for you to get up-to-date with your bookkeeping and BAS requirements. If you've got a lot of BAS returns to lodge and bookkeeping that needs to be caught up with, talk to us about getting a discounted quote to bring your bookkeeping up-to-date. We are on your side as small business bookkeepers, we understand what you need for your business.
We specialise in bookkeeping using Reckon accounting software. We also help with other leading brands, such as MYOB, Quickbooks, Xero and Wiise, but primarily, we are Reckon Partners and Advisors. Reckon is an Australian company providing accounting software for small business starting at $5 per month all the way up to accounting, ERP software for larger business entities. We also specialise in management budgeting and forecasting as well as financial reporting for the accountant or for clients. We have a specialised 'accountants' pack' accounting papers, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for reporting to the accountant and providing reconciliation reports, such as wages and superannuation reconciliations, Fixed assets, loans, finance, debtors, creditors and other balance sheet items. This means your accountant will have less work to do.
We charge a going rate of $35 per hour for bookkeeping. BAS lodgements carry a fixed fee of $75 per BAS Quarter to cover administration cost. If your business lodges BAS monthly or IAS monthly, we charge a fixed fee of $25 per lodgement.
If you have a lot of catching up to do to get current, we discount the hourly bookkeeping fee to $30 per hour until you are up-to-date with your bookkeeping.
If you need finance to pay for out of pocket costs like the initial cost of setting up accounting software and bringing your bookkeeping up-to-date, we offer line of credit or small business loan finance at commercial interest rates to tide you over until your cashflow becomes sufficient again.
Three common questions we are asked as bookkeepers are:
1. What is the scope of your bookkeeping work?
This is important to people because some bookkeepers will act as management accountants and can help interpret figures, while others are limited to data entry.
In answering that question, I would get the client to think about who will do the following:
> Reconciling bank transactions (and how often? Daily / weekly / monthly)
> Entering supplier bills and paying suppliers
> Raising sales invoices and following up debtors
> Checking the coding of transactions to ensure they have been coded to the correct
account and with the correct tax treatment
> Lodging / filing GST IAS
> Prepare reports such as Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet
> Help to interpret the reports and tell the story behind the numbers
> Prepare a budget to monitor performance against
> Prepare a cash-flow forecast to help plan cash inflows / outflows in the future.
2. Are you registered and qualified?
In order to comply with the Australian Tax Agent Services Act, there is a minimum standard for registered BAS Agents in Australia. It requires BAS Agents to have no criminal convictions, not to have been bankrupt, to have a minimum education in accounting of a Certificate IV in accounting including a Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) course in GST/BAS taxation principles. I have an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and am a registered BAS Agent and I have relevant experience to be a bookkeeper and lodge BAS returns.
3. How familiar are your with our industry?
I am always actively looking at ways to help the client become more efficient and better managed. I am committed to being advocate for small business. I take the time to research each client business's industry, see what other people in that industry are doing and discuss option with the client.
