How we created a healthy company culture

At ServiceSeeking.com.au we have a unique office culture. It’s not the typical corporate culture.

We’d like to think that some of our success is attributed to our great working environment and the awesome people it attracts – and keeps.

ServiceSeeking.com.au started in a garage, and with each milestone hit, we’ve been able to trade up office spaces and offer some great employee perks.

It’s not about arcade games, unlimited soft drinks or pool tables, and we’re not into trendy, new-age stuff either – you won’t find any Bikram yoga classes here!
Our company culture starts with something a lot more basic – a healthy work/life balance.

Creating easy access to a healthy lifestyle is central to our company culture. Our mornings often begin with a casual coffee catch-up; we’re encouraged to step away from our desks at lunch to either soak up some sun or hit the gym, and each week, we’re treated to an Office Fruit Box from Harris Farm.

The office ‘vibe’ is important too; we’ve swapped corporate sterile cubicles for a lovely open-plan space. We’re in a competitive market where constant innovation is essential, so much of our work is collaborative. We’ve designed our office with plenty of common areas – comfortable couches and a large, communal lunch table. We can chat face-to-face when it suits, or hide away in one of our meeting rooms when a deadline is looming.

Rather than paying for a third-party fit-out, we had a team “working bee’ so our space looked the way we wanted it to. We handpicked the office artwork, hammered and nailed them into place and went plant shopping to add some greenery. The result is an office space we actually want to spend time in, especially once you add in some Spotify tunes!

Our culture hasn’t been cultivated; it’s a product of the awesome people and a huge driver of our success.
