We spoke to Black Beauty Renovations about their success on ServiceSeeking.com.au

1. What does your business do?
We do a whole rage of renovation work, at the moment though the core of our business is painting and tiling.

2. How many jobs have you quoted on?
Heaps! Somewhere upwards of 40 I’d say.

3. How many customers have you won?
We’ve won 6 directly through the site and our Service Seeking profile has directed a lot of traffic to our website. [That’s a win rate of 15% which is the site average – Ed]

4. Is ServiceSeeking.com.au successful in winning you work?
Honestly, we couldn’t be happier with it. We haven’t won a huge number of jobs yet, but they’ve all been quality. They’ve ranged in price from $700 up to $4,000. The other thing that’s been really pleasing is that I have my website set up so that I can track how many hits I get on my website from people who’ve come from my Service Seeking profile. This has been a great piece of advertising for my business. We have put a lot of time and effort into getting our profile right and so we are really pleased with how well it’s working for us.

5. What other types of marketing does your business do?
We’re only a new business but we’ve tried a few things. We dabbled with Google Adwords but found it too expensive. We also tried one ad in the local rag but that was far too expensive and we didn’t get anything out of it. Really the best thing has been our website. I designed it myself and have spent a lot of time refining it. I can also see really easily see where my business is coming from by tracking the visitors to the site and this is why I’ve put so much effort into my ServiceSeeking profile. You can see what places on the net are working for you and what places aren’t.

6. How do they compare to ServiceSeeking.com.au?
Apart from the website, ServiceSeeking has been the best value. On the whole I’m extremely happy with ServiceSeeking, the customer support has been great and we’ve got quality business.

7. Any tips for new businesses?
Put time and effort into your profile. If you are a new business and you really want to build your business, you’ve got to be prepared to spend some money and put some time and effort into it. Really, what you put in you get back double in return. It’s important to get the presentation right, we put up some photos of our work and that seems to help. Also, we got verified and that helps to show you’re a dinky-di business with all your insurance and everything else and not just some backyard joe.
