In 1987, Master Builder Rick Christensen created Christensen Timber Designs, and almost three decades later, he heads a team of qualified, trustworthy, and friendly builders and carpenters. He has been an active ServiceSeeking.com.au user for two years and is a “big fan” of our site. With a wealth of impressive projects under their belt, Rick and his team have the expertise to complete new buildings, timber decks, pergolas and even the most complex renovations and extensions. Their most popular request is decking, and this year, the most popular material has been an Indonesian timber called Merbau.

The photo below is actually the beautiful backyard of Christensen Timber Design owner Rick and his family, located on Newport’s stunning Bungan Beach. He built the entire house with his team, but the decking, in particular, was made from Queensland spotted gum planks.  They are family-friendly and non-slip. The decking cost around $20,000 and took around three weeks.

Rick’s home

Rick and his team built the house below for TV stars Rachael Beck (Hey Dad!) and Ian Stenlake (Stingers). It took a year to build and cost a cool $1.2 million. It has five bedrooms, three living areas, four bathrooms and a gym, as well as 150 square metres of beautiful blackout decks.

The decking below was for a family in Clontaff, and it cost around $30,000 and was done using Tallowwood.
