I'm trying to finish off a solar installation. I'm almost done mounting the panels, and I've got batteries, but I need you to double check that I got the right amount of batteries & panels for my usage, and your advice on what controller + inverter to get, then you to wire it all up and configure the controller.
I had a sparky mate helping me with this project, but he bailed so now it just needs finishing off. I'm a renter, so the plan was to build a solar system that I can move with me to the next house, with the intention of going completely off-grid. My average usage is 600kWh/mth, peaking at 850kWh/mth. I have a 6kW aircon and electric stove, but he was thinking I might have to keep the stove on grid. I have 4x 120Ah lithium batteries and an order still coming for 12x 200Ah normal AGM deep cycles (I bought extra for my mate), so I'll probably return some.
The controller we were looking at was a 5KVA Pure Sine Wave Hybrid Solar Inverter 48V 220V with Built-in PWM 50A.
I've got 10x 160W panels on the roof, that needs 10m of cable to the controller, which we were intending to mount with the inverter on the other side of the wall from the switchboard. (The wall is double-brick 280mm thick) The plan was to keep the batteries in a large metal toolbox outside, and run 4m of cable from there to the controller.
I'm open to a dynamic switch to use grid as backup, and selling my surplus electricity back to the grid, but we will need a nanosecond inbound surge arrestor for EMP protection. I'm also keen to bypass the batteries where possible.
