Data on ServiceSeeking.com.au shows that the average bathroom renovation costs $5,799. This figure was derived from a total of 733 bathroom renovation jobs listed on the site.
Builders charge between $20 and $150 for their labour, with an average quoted hourly rate of $57 per hour.
Materials and fixtures are not included (i.e. tiles, taps, appliances etc.) and the cost normally doesn’t factor in the demolition or removal of the existing bathroom either. This can usually be arranged for a flat fee of around $500.
The duties of a builder are varied so be sure to identify exactly what you need done. Also be prepared for unexpected costs that are not included in your initial quote to arise, such as the cost of negotiating support beams.
