My name is Mary Reid and I have been a cake decorator for over 30 years. In October 2009 I opened a shop in Highfields (outside Toowoomba) following seven years operating from my home-based cake studio in Wynnum, Brisbane.
Although my passion is designing and creating wedding cakes, my real satisfaction comes from working with couples to create designs which incorporate their own personal ideas and meet their budget.
I offer free of charge consultations (by appointment) and cake tasting sessions (see schedule below) where we determine cake size, structure and variety; delivery requirements and create designs within budget. Consultations also cover advice on cake storage, portion guides and how to incorporate the cake design and cutting of the cake into the overall theme/reception. I have a large portfolio of cakes for all occasions on my website, in my photo and book libraries plus 20 display cakes in my shop.
To allow me to keep up with emerging trends I regularly visit the UK to attend international cake exhibitions, purchase new tools, undertake further training and work in a cake shop. I was awarded 3rd place in 2009, and 4th place in the 2008 and 2007 Australian Bridal Industry Awards (Queensland Cake Design) and regularly write articles on wedding cake trends for bridal magazines. My work has been published in national and international magazines.
All of my cakes are baked using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients on tried and tested recipes and are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes and flavours.
