Phil is a great guy and a real professional. The job was estimated to be 30 mins to 1 hr long but it took almost 8 hours, partly because we ran into unforseen issues that were not expected. The job involved installing 2 turret cameras and running 4 x Cat5/6 cables from the NBN box/Router in the garage to the 2 cameras and formal lounge respectively.
The main challenges were routing cables through the roof into the walls (with wooden studs / struts – I think they are called noggins). We lost lots of time after few ‘false’ starts and trying a few things that didn’t work. First it was difficult to get to the edge of the house (eaves) through the roof where the cameras were to be installed – partly because it is too small and there were so much insulation material blocking the way. Phil had to open some iron sheets to get some space. Then the studs/struts had to be drilled into by cutting holes though the plasterboard. Getting into the roof was a nightmare and perhaps the biggest challenge of the job (basided trying to pass the cables through the studs/noggins), and to make matters worse we started at 5pm and we were losing natural sun lighting in the process.
But Phil worked with me to get the job done. What I was impressed about Phil was his persistency to finish the job… he simply never gave up. It was getting late and late and we were getting hungrier although both of us kept going. In some cases I was opposed to some of Phil’s ideas and suggestions of cutting more holes into the wall to get to the studs, until I was 100% convinced that there was no other way around. This perhaps contributed to some of the time we lost but at no time did Phil express his frustrations. And despite the fact that Phil was not 100% well earlier and we almost cancelled the job, he still got on with it and eventually we got it done and I was a happy customer in the end. And thank God we didn’t damage the roof by putting a foot through the ceiling boards, which was very likely given how many times we had to go into the darkened roof.
Very highly recommended! A minor suggestion to work with him in the roof to help him ‘see’ some hidden things on some occasion as it will help speed up the process (especially if you are familiar with your own roof and location of things. :)
Phil thanks for the job man and I will do business you again and will recommend you to friends.Read More
